The Cave VR

philosophy

non-linear

In his work Republic, Plato introduced the allegory of the cave that became the inspiration for many other philosophical concepts. What if the world we live in is merely a cave, where the events we experience are nothing but shadows projected on a stone wall? Polish artists Jowita Guja and Adam Żądło present a new interactive adaptation of this Platonic metaphor that preserves the meaning of the original but places it in a new context, while also asking new questions: what if the cave had no boundaries? What if the cave was located in another cave, like a matryoshka doll? The creators present a VR experience that requires not only mental, but also physical effort to move viewers further in their contemplation of the distortion of reality.
