The story follows the coming of age of Maya, an ordinary girl of the 21st century, who transforms into a unique female being. After the onset of her first period, her life turns upside down. She is confronted with the restrictive traditions of her conservative family, the ridicule of her classmates and the world of hidden shame and stigma. Her superpowers are born thanks to overcoming her own shame and fear of menstrual blood.
