MLK: Now Is The Time

An engaging interactive essay that explores the key themes from M.L. King's famous speech and highlights the systemic inequalities that persist in our society today.

How does it feel to sit behind the wheel of a car and be threatened with an arrest by a police officer, even though you have done nothing wrong? The project MLK: Now Is The Time uses simulations or simple games to portray the feelings of African Americans affected by the systemic inequality of the U. S. social system. The interactive experience deals specifically with three themes: housing, the police, and voting, which M. L. King emphasised in his famous 1963 speech. An audio recording of King's speech permeates the project as an immortal refrain, reminding us that although society is evolving and changing, the struggle for human rights for African Americans is far from over.
